satyameva jayate

Vinay and Mohit were childhood friends, They went to the school together, but after that Vinay joined his father’s textile business, Mohit completed his graduation and went to USA for further studies, came back after spending fifteen years there to help his father in his business.

In the meantime, Vinay got married but his wife passed away leaving a daughter, Vinay’s only sister Rekha was a divorcee with a daughter, she used to stay with her parents and was bringing up both the children like her own.

Mohit used to visit his friend often, one day he confided into his friend that he has fallen in love with a girl Madhavi, Vinay was extremely upset, because he has hoped that Mohit will marry his sister, who he could guess, was in love with Mohit. And he knew that Mohit was extremely liberal and will accept Rekha and his daughter. He asked Mohit about his choice hiding his disappointment. Mohit said she works in his office, even though he has often tried to befriend her, she keeps a respectful distance, most probably because he is her boss. And that is the reason why Mohit cant insist her for her friendship, but Vinay can help him in this matter, because Rekha, who works in an office near Mohit’s office, may befriend her and help him in this matter. Vinay consented with him hiding his disappointment.

He told Rekha about Mohit’s request, Rekha was heart broken he could see, but he consoled her sister by saying that he will try to do what is best for her in future, at present she should just do what Mohit says. So Rekha befriended Madhavi and started to mingle with her a lot, Madhavi was not pretty, she was a very ordinary looking girl, but that was the only thing ordinary in he r, though she was a very ordinary looking girl with very modest get up, she was a very good natured and noble hearted girl, her heart was full of love and trust for every one. Within a few weeks she started to visit Rekha’s home and innocently thought it a coincidence that Mohit was Rekha’s brother’s friend.

Vinay first tried to brainwash Mohit by saying all sorts of things about Madhavi, which did not worked, because Mohit had full trust on Madhavi and he doted on her. He had a strong inferiority complex about his looks, which stopped him from approaching her. He had an accident as a child which has left his face deeply scarred, and he has been used by members of fairer sex too often for his wallet. They used him as a ticket to movies or restaurant but never took the relationship further. This bitterness has stopped him from marrying even though he has passed more than 40 years on this earth.

There was something in Madhavi which has soothed his scarred soul, and filled his heart with hope and longing. Whenever he used to see her his heart used to fill up with immense happiness. Her gentle manner, bowed head had made a strange effect on him.

When Vinay saw that nothing else is working he started to pretend that he is in love with Madhavi, he instructed Rekha to include his daughter tanvi in all their activities and Madhavi became very fond of her and so did Tanvi. With every passing day Vinay started to show all hints of falling in love with Madhavi with all the intensity and Mohit started to observe the amount of affection Madhavi had for Tanvi and started to feel guilty for causing the trouble in his friend’s family. He became extremely distressed, because he started to believe that Vinay was genuinely in love with Madhavi and it was because of him that he was not able to propose to her and give a loving mother to Tanvi.

He slowly started to distance himself from Madhavi out of guilt, Madhavi has guessed once that he was in love with her but could not dare to approach him because she knew her status and she was a very self respecting girl. Vinay took advantage of the situation and asked Rekha to befriend Mohit. Which she happily did, and within a year Mohit got smitten by her, because she was a charming woman with a beautiful and well maintained physique and manners.

When Madhavi came to know about the affair she was heart broken but she always knew that she does not fits in Mohit’s status, hence she suppressed her sadness and continued her life. After a while Mohit observed with surprise that even though he has distanced himself from Madhavi Vinay was not trying to propose her.

He started to observe him without opening his heart this time and observed that when he was present his friend and Rekha used to show as if they dote on Madhavi but sometimes when he used to follow Madhavi without her knowledge to Vinay’s home, he used to observe that her visits were always short and she used to come out with a hurt or disappointed expression. He understood their game and slowly distanced himself from them and left for US again.

He returned after three months without telling any body and approached Madhavi directly, he asked for her hand in marriage and got it, all she asked was about his relation with Rekha, she got the answer she herself has guessed.

  3. You don't know Jane Austen? I can't believe it! She is right up your alley. She wrote in the 18th century and if men like me rave about her even now she must be good you know.

Forget everything else and go to the link at project Gutenberg and down load every novel by her.

  5. She deals in love, affection, virtue, sophistication, culture, moral values and everything you are after. Intrigues too, in the way you relate them. You could be an Indian version of Jane Austen if you can put your heart and soul in it. She is the guru you are after my dear Trisha. If you can write like her that would be sublime.

  6. "IF YOU CAN WRITE LIKE HER" :)

i prefer writing in my own style.. because i cant copy any one, since my childhood when i studied, i could never copy/memorise answers, i had to understand them and write them myself. that is why i never scored well in the board run exams but when the school teachers checked my copies (individual care) i scored well and in college.. i scored third in more than 250 students..

  7. When I wished if you could be like Jane Austen I did not think you could be like her in any material sense. It was of the insights that I was talking of. I can assure you:

YOU CAN NEVER WRITE LIKE HER :)

It was a wish. We wish well for our friends. Well........
